Or originS. Of all the characters in all the fandoms I enjoy, Catwoman has the most backgrounds. Which is nuts. And fun. Here are a few "Who's Who" from the DC Universe. Is she a stewardess with amnesia? A pet store owner gone bad? A prostitute with aspirations of glory? A globe-trotting adventuress (whatever the hell that is)? Or somehow all of the above? Comic books employ complicated narratives, and if it's one thing I enjoy, it's a complicated narrative. And a character with a lot -- and with Catwoman, "a lot" only scratches the surface, if you'll purr-don the pun (see what I did there? Huh? Huh?).
(My first and favorite Catwoman, encountered in an issue of Detective Comics from 1989. They've since forsaken the grey and be-whiskered cowl, but it's the one I love the most.)
